At a game

I used 52 Sketches...52 Weeks sketch #29 as an inspiration. I used 2 more photos than the sketch. I took these photos when we went to see a soccer game that our nephew played. The layouts always look a little different on the computer screen. The journaling spot looks too dark now. It probably needs some white. 2 smaller photos on the bottom were cut when I put them in the old album.

Grand

This layout was done based on 52 Sketches...52 Weeks sketch #30. There is another sketch this week I want to try.

a big hole in a ground

It's only Tuesday and I can't wait for the weekend. I don't know why but I am so tired and feel lazy tonight. I didn't want to get up to punch circles, so I just used scissors instead. I wanted to either decorate around the photos or put photo corners or something, but I didn't want to take extra steps to do any of that. I just wanted to get this done and go to bed. This layout was done based on Page Plans sketch #15.

Water Fun

We had visitors at our house for the last few days and couldn't scrap much. Just a few days break from scrapping makes me feel I have a lot to catch up with. I spent some time reading blogs tonight, I didn't complete any pages. But I have one I can post today. This was done for this week's Inspiration Book challenge on SYC. The challenge was to get inspiration from the oldest book you own. The book I got inspiration from was called Simple Ideas published in 2004. That is the only book I own. It's a 24-page booklet I bought for $1.00. It was on the clearance table at Scrapbook Expo I went. It was interesting to see how the scrapbooking style has changed over the last few years.
These pictures were taken by her babysitter. I love this photo of her and Scooter (dog).

Adventure

I'm gonna go ahead and post this one tonight. My sister, her husband and their daugher were visiting us and we took a road trip. We had a great time. This layout was done based on Page Plans sketch #14.

X'mas 95

Our internet was down for the last 2 days. I was panicking! I am so relieved now. I scrapped this layout the day before. Used same sketch as the previous layout from So Sketchy. And I did this for noelmignon's Christmas in July challenge. Today is the last day to submit!!! This photo was the first of our tradition. Every year on Christmas Eve, we take pictures in front of the tree. In this photo, you don't see very many ornaments. We have been adding a little by little. I am going to an outlet mall with my mother in law and 2 sisters-in-law tomorrow. Hopefully I can finish the layout I started last night. Have a good weekend!!

This layout was scrapped based on So Sketchy July sketch. I fliped it sideways.

Scootin' -- SYC fabric challenge

There is a fabric challenge over at SYC. I don't have much experience using them on layouts. This one was my 3rd. I cut stars out of the fabric and traced the edges with white paint. I think fabrics have so much potential as you can see on DTs' work there, it can be used as a patterned paper, as a border, or you can make shapes out of them. Now, I am not sure about archival quality. I'm pretty sure you can find all about the use of fabric on scrapbooking somewhere on the internet. I did this layout about a month ago. I did complete 2 pages tonight but I am not posting because they include some photos of people I don't have contacts any more and I don't want to post without their permission.

Queen of the crap and miss M

Why is is it that weekends always go so fast? It's not that I don't want to go to work, but I wish I had more time scrapping.

The next 2 weeks I have the honor to be Queen of the crap over on SYC. Most of people that saw me there probably have never heard of me. Well, I am just an ordinary person who loves to scrap. I discovered scrapbooking in summer of 2004 when a friend of mine showed me her trip album. When I saw all those beautiful pages, I didn't hesitate at all to start creating my own album. She was so sweet that she gave me some papers and eyelets to start. I scrapped my daughter's photos for about a year, then we moved to where we live now. After about a month we moved I just quit completely and left my scrapbooking stuff alone for 2 years. When I picked it up again around the end of 2007, that was the beginning of my obsession. Obsession may be a little too strong word, but I am hooked for sure. I discovered sketches and challenges. I started this blog and started participating challenges. I love challenges. They make my pages versatile. I get inspired everyday. There are plenty of fantastic scrappers out there who share their creations on various blogs and galleries. I am working on my daughter's album now. I started with her ultra sound photos and now she is 18 months old in my scrapbooking world. In reality, she is 14. As I continue working on this project, there are some rules--these rules are not something I have to follow. It's just my personality.

They are:

1. I have to have photos in order. Even among the photos taken at the same event, I want them in order of photos taken. And I have to know the dates. Today's photos never should be before yesterday's.

2. I have to keep everything. Even the photos turned out blur. I simply can not pick and choose to make my pages look nicer.

3. It is very hard to crop the photos. From a clutter on the corner of a photo to the lace of the edge of a blanket to a cheap figurine on the side table, I want to remember everything. So, it is hard to cut a picture smaller or to cover with stickers, etc.

I am putting these things before artistic side of scrapbooking. What I mean is when it may look better arranging pictures in a different order or cutting them smaller, or putting an embellishment on a photo (especially on a person) , I rather have my layouts look unbalanced.

Hey, it is just a hobby after all. As long as I am happy with my pages, that's all it counts, right?

When I get to the digital photos I have yet to develop, I may do differently, but until then I think I will continue what I have been doing unless I get too bored doing.

Anyway enough said about myself. Here is the layout I made today.

18 Months Old

I just had a pineapple shake from Sonic and feel very full. These are some of my favorite photos. Very simple and quick layouts.

Definitely A Daddy's Girl

She really is. She always has been and still is. There is a special bond between them which I am blessed to see. This photo was the same one used yesterday. My sister had it enlarged for me. I used a current sketch from 52 Sketches...52 Weeks. Also, I used those scissors to cut edged lines. It is SYC's challenge. Can't remember the last time I used them...

So In Love

First of all, I won twice!! I was picked as a winner for the month of June on So Sketchy and for the past week challenge on 52 Sketches...52 Weeks. I got my prize package from So Sketchy yesterday and got a winner notice e-mail from Julie today. Ally from So Sketchy sent me an inspiration magazine and a couple of sticker sheets. Yay!! This is my 2nd time to win on 52...52. I have been participating since sketch #4 and this week makes #28. These challenges select winners by random drawing. Thus everybody has chances.

Today's LO was done based on So Sketchy's July sketch. And I used my first Sassafras papers. They are so so cute and I have been wanting them. I took advantage of free shipping offer on Noel's store. This LO will be entered to Dreamgirls current love relationship challenge as well.

I'm Thiiiiiiis Big.

This is something we did a lot and gave me and my husband a lot of joy doing. We would say "How big are you??" and she would raise both her arms high. We all say "Thiiiiiis BIG" together. I'm sure we got her to do that to take a photo of her wearing Daddy's cowboy boot. LO based on So Sketchy's June sketch that I hadn't used yet.

Fun at the beach

I did this LO based on the current Page Plans sketch. The sketch calls for just 3 photos side by side. But I put all the photos I had there. The paper I used is one I bought loooong time ago. My friends and I got together and ordered on-line. This paper is from Autum Leaves and has a perfect design already. The striped border on top and the pink border on the bottom are a part of the design on this paper. All I did was to add 2 strips of papers.

Santa Monica

Based on So Sketchy June sketch, same one I used on "no fun". I just need to take better pictures of LOs. The background paper is light green. Other patterned papers are also greener than how it looks. I am too tired of retaking though. This was the only time we went to Santa Monica beach. Wish we did more often.

Your Turn, Milk

Why is that the weekends always go so fast? My first LO here is based on So Sketchy's sketch. The first one this month. The sketch calls for 3 photos but I just used 2. The second LO is just a put together. When I do my pages, I pick 1 or 2 main papers and the rest would be picked from the scraps. That's exactly what I did.

So Sweet

For some reasons, Saturday always goes quickly. Anyway here is a layout I finished today. I was going to use 3 paint colors for SYC challenge. Since I have only 4 colors of paint, it was good thing they asked for only 3. The papers used are all scraps.

Megan

I tried Lucy's on-line crop fun from SIS TV. I had Megan doodle her name. She was too busy talking to her friends on her cell phone, she didn't do it at first. I know she had done it on her binders and note books and they looked much cuter!

Summer

Everytime I see these photos, I can't stop but laugh. Donna took these photos for me while she was at her house. This is based on gettin' sketchy #13. I made my own journaling note. This is one of the things I see used by others and I don't have. Stitching is fake. I poked holes and connected them with a marker.

Amazing You

This is Unpubbed Jennifer's lift. Her digital layout is very beautiful to admire. But it looked difficult to lift. Basically the entire layout is a photo. And title and journaling on it. I was going to sit out for this one. But it stayed on back of my mind and I thought of using multipul photos. When I was looking for the photos taken at studios at different times, I found this one. Since I had 2 of this 8 x 10 photos, I went ahead and tried to lift. She was almost 3 years old.

US

These pictures were taken in front of the house we were living in at that time. My camera was not working and I was using disposable cameras for several months. I took a photo of this layout before I write down the address under the photos.

Now's the time.

When I crocheted some flowers for a layout the other day. My first idea was to make a frame. But I decided against it because if I couldn't make it to the correct measurement, I would have to redo it. I didn't want to spend that much time. Besides, when I made those flowers, they looked ok enough to be used on the page. Any way, I wanted to try to crochet a frame. So I did. Actually it was a bit short when I came back to the corner I started. I kind made it connect and said it was done. Also, I've been seeing some items on layouts on the gallery and clouds are certainly something I wanted to use. I just cut white cardstock and inked. Next time, I want to try a tree.
This photo shows her turning the lock above the knob. There was another lock above it, so she couldn't open the door.

Happy 4th !!

I am still full from BBQ we had at my sister-in-law's house. I am hearing some fireworks going on outside. Here is today's LO. I probablly needed to put the circle a little higher. It looks like a bear face or Mickey Mouse face. May be I can use that for Disneyland LOs.

Where Did It Go ?

In this photo, she was wearing my slippers. There were a lot of things we absolutely loved to see/hear her do/say. This was one of them. The current challenge on Method Playground is to use fibers/yarn. I just made some flowers but I never thought of incorporating crochet into a layout like those done by DT. When I was looking for yarn, I found some fabric squares. I had totally forgotten about them. If I remembered I could use them on fabric challenges. I also used some fibers on the layout "Know You're Loved" the other day. I may do another one soon. I used white paint and white stamp ink on this.

4th of July

This 4th of July is not this year. This was from 1995. Though these photos don't look like Independence day, they were taken on July 4th. And we celebrated it with family and friends. I did this page based on Page Plans #11 but just found out that SYC's challenge this week is patriotic theme, so I'm gonna submit there as well.
