O Christmas Tree

Christmas came and went. And the world will be counting down for the new year in some 24 + hours. Since I am off tomorrow, I am hoping to scrap a layout or two. Anyway here is the page I created for American Crafts' Christmas week challenge. Their DT's examples are gorgeous always and the challenge participants layouts are just as wonderful. I feel a little embarrased to submit mine, but at least I can get a page done :) Papers under the photos, tree trim, and green foil Thickers are of American Crafts.

Snowman, Just You, & Reindeer Game

It's Sunday evening and I have to go back to work tomorrow..... Hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas. I did. I liked it that Christmas this year fell on Friday. I enjoyed 3-day weekend :) We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas day with my dh's family. Company, food, gifts.... everything was fantastic!! I took down all the Christmas decorations yesterday. I don't like to have the tree still up on New Year's day and yesterday was a good day to clean up. I put away all the wrapping materials, too.
Anyway, here are 3 layouts created using So Sketchy sketches. Unfortunately, it will be closed after this month.... The first page was also done for Scrapping the Music.

Silly & Sweet Girls

The current challenge at Method Playground is to alter / dress up buttons. I didn't have any idea at first but I decided to play with buttons and see what I can come up with. I painted and placed some rhinestones before the paint dried on one. I painted and put rub-ons on one. I painted and glittered on a couple of them. I used glitters, bling, pearls on some. I stamped and sealed with glossy accents on a couple of them. I had tons of fun doing these things :) Finally I arranged them to frame the photo. This turned out to be a no-patterned paper layout! I will add some journaling above the photo later. This was definitely an "outside the box" thing for me.

Autumn Splendor

I definitely need more than 24 hours a day this week! I want to scrap a few more layouts before Christmas and I simply don't have enough time! I managed to create this page of my favorite photo tonight though. It is this week's American Craft's challenge to create a page with a favorite photo. I don't get to have pictures taken with my dd and my dh took this one for me last month. It was such a pretty day and I asked we would go to a park for some photo shoots. We had never gone to a park or any place just to take photos and it was very special for me.
Supplies used are mostly American Crafts except solid color cardstock, brads, and a sticker. I also used a sketch from 52 Sketches...52 Weeks. I also wanted to share this photo taken last night. We went to see Christmas lighting display at square in Canton. It was beautiful!!

Girl Power

I went to donate blood after work today. So I got home later than usual. I still haven't finished decorating our tree. It's up and we got the boxes of ornaments and other Christmas stuff out though. I normally don't wrap the gifts until the tree is up. I think I'm done shopping, but I know there is always a last minute shopping to do. I want to scrap a few more pages by the end of this week..... I need more than 24 hours a day for sure!! Here is the page I made last night. This week's and their last (so sad.....) challenge over at Scrapping Out Loud is to use the colors of the rainbow. This paper from Cosmo Cricket has the most of the colors I needed I immediately decided on using it. I also used a sketch from 52 Sketches...52 Weeks. I will add some more journaling later.

Smile

Here is a page I made for the current challenge over at My Mind's Eye. It is to use a sketch provided and also to add handmade flowers. I chose this fall photo of my dd. So I picked brown and red papers from Out and About collection. I thought of making daisy-like flowers first but because I chose this fall photo, I decided to make these circle flowers. I cut out lots of circles in different sizes out of 3 different MME papers. Then I sprayed glimmer mists, cramped them, dried them and stacked them. And lastly used brads to hold the circles. For "charming" tag, I placed MME rub-on on a white cardstock and backed with red cardstock. It was fun making these flowers.

Great to be 15

I really enjoyed creating with this week's sketch from Sketchy Thursdays. I used the supplies from Scrapbook Kit Club that I won a few sketches ago. Although I have made a couple of Christmas themed pages, I thought I could use them on a non-Christmas page as well.

Style

I just finished this page. I've been wanting to participate Scrapping Out Loud's challenge but had no clue what to do with. It's ribbon weaving. I understood the concept but couldn't come up with any idea how I could incorporate it with a layout. Anyway, I thought maybe this photo of my dd with the brick wall background would go with weaving.

Joy & Christmas Memories

It's raining out here and it's a good time to catch up with my layout posting. These pages here are the ones I made during this week. The first one was done based on a sketch from 52 Sketches...52 Weeks which, by the way, is closing at the end of this month.... so sad...**sigh** I received a great December kit from Scrapbook Kit Club earlier in the week and when I saw those pretty Christmas goodies, I had to use them right away! It was my prize from Sketchy Thursdays. My second page is of old Christmas photos. I used Pink Paislee's overlay that had a frame design. This is my first time using 12x12 overlay. I placed a white cardstock under the photos. Other papers, flowers, rub-ons, etc are all on top of the overlay.

Mulan doll

I am posting a layout I made Sunday. I used a sketch from So Sketchy. When I first saw the sketch, it looked hard, but I love how my page turned out. These 2 pictures had already been cut into an odd shape, so I cut her out them.

Before I forget, it snowed last Friday!! Although it snowed last year, it is very rare that it does here.

Ready to Dance

I had a day off today. I got my driver license renewed and some Christmas shopping done :) This layout here is what I finished last night. It was created based on a sketch from 52 Sketches...52 Weeks. I didn't get to scrap today but hope I will some tomorrow.

Fall '09

Hope everybody had a nice Thanksgiving. We had a big dinner at my husband's parents house. We enjoyed the dinner as well as company of twenty some family members. We had turkey, fried turkey, ham, dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, 2 kinds of sweet potato casseroles, asparagus casserole, rigatoni, black eye peas, cream corn, salad, rolls, fruit salad, grape salad, 12 pies and cakes.... I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Then my daughter and I went out early on Friday for shopping. I usually work Friday after Thanksgiving and I was not going to miss out this opportunity. I actually had a whole week off :) I thought it was fun getting out early. Here is the page I got done yesterday using a sketch from Pink Sketches. I dread going back to work tomorrow...... oh well...

Thankful & X'mas Eve

Posting 2 pages here. The first one was done for MSW and Dreamgirls. They both include a list on their challenges I decided to make just one. I asked my dd to make a list for me. This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago at a park by our house. Trees had started changing colors and I wanted to take some pics there. I layered 2 transparency frames and that was it for embellies. Those flowers are cut-outs from a paper. I don't get to use chipboard numbers much. So I decided to use them up on this page. The second layout was created based on a sketch from 52 Sketches...52 Weeks. I liked how the chipboard alphas turned out the other day and I wanted to do it again. I inked white chipboards and applied Glossy Accents over them.

Urban Lily is giving away a huge stash of papers from various collections on their blog, Urban Swank. You can find the giveaway post here. All you need to do is to leave a comment and spread the word. So go check it out :)

December Delights

I loved working with this sketch from Sketchy Thursdays. I scrapped these photos taken a few days before Christmas. I couldn't find any color I liked in my alpha stash, I decided to alter the white ones. I applied green ink onto the chipboard letters and coated with Glossy Accents. I had seen it done but I had never tried it myself. And I really like how they turned out! I will definitely do it again. Scrapbook Kit Club is a sponsor this week and you can link up your layout to their blog as well :)

Sweet Smile

I made this page using a sketch from 52 Sketches...52 Weeks. I also did this for Butterfly Crafts' challenge; what makes me happy.

Little Blossom

My Mind's Eye is hosting a sketch challenge this week and I created this page based on their fabulous sketch. Everything, except chipboards and 2 flowers, is of MME. 2 blue flowers are rub-ons. I applied rub-ons on white cardstock and cut them out:)

Dumbo

I made this page based on a sketch from That Scrappy Girl. I had such hard time choosing papers, I almost gave up on it. Then I left it alone for a couple of days and went back working on it. I am glad I finished it :)

October Tradition & Picachu

It was so nice to have a day off today! Finished up the pages I've been working on. The first one was done based on a sketch from My Sketch World and the second one based on 52 Sketches...52 Weeks sketch. Both turned out to be pretty simple. No flowers !!

Trick or Treat and Happy & Free

I made only 2 pages this week. I don't do well when the time changes and I was tired most of the week. Plus, I wasn't feeling all that great this week. I am hoping I can get some scrapping done this weekend. We'll see. We may go for a drive tomorrow. Anyway, about these pages.... the first one was created based on a sketch from 52 Sketches...52 Weeks. It is a Halloween photo from 1998. She was 4 and that was the first time we took her trick-or-treating to the neighborhood. We went with her aunt and her cousin. She had a blast. The second page was done using a sketch from Pink Sketches. These photos are of her first visit to Disneyland. We snapped a few photos on Mickey's car right outside his house. I also combined this one with Scrapping the Music. The song of the week is a theme song of Happy Days. Love that show!! Have a nice weekend :)

Happy Halloween!! I created this page yesterday using a sketch from Pink Sketches.

Wrapping up the week...

I don't think I have posted these layouts. These are the ones I made last weekend. I finished a page tonight but my dd took my camera and can't post it yet. I made this first one here for Method Playground challenge. I stamped white and kraft cardstock to make patterned papers. I like how it turned out.

STAR

I know I used this title on a page recently. That was a before-recital photo a few years prior to this one. I wanted to come up with a different title but with the alphas I had left of those large chipboard letters, this was the only one I could come up with. The current challenge at Scrapping Out Loud is to use oversized embellishments/letters. I used a large Heidi Swapp flower also. Since there was no sketch provided this week, I used a sketch from Capture These Sketches. My layout doesn't look anything like it though.....

Our Dancer

I've been participating weekly sketch challenges since its launch in July over at Capture These Sketches. They just announced their new design team. So I decided to visit new members' blogs and the first one I went over was Scrap A Little by Helen Croft. Boy I was blown away! She posts lots of tutorials and I recognized some immediately. I know I visited her blog before.... thru the links on other blogs I'm sure. Anyway, I learned that she has a sketch challenge going on there and I started working on mine right away. She has 4 fab sketches for us to choose from and this challenge is also to use Basic Grey products. Here is what I came up with. I'll be posting some pages I created over the weekend in a couple of days.

The Perfect Pick

This is my entry to Oct. 16th challenge at the Studio. I used new and old papers and mist. The pics are of my dd.

The Joy of Life

I really enjoy participating the challenges over at Scrapping Out Loud. The current one is about time. I used a clock chipboard. I also used their sketch and the word of the week, moments.

Smile

I made this page based on Sketchy Thursday's sketch. I'm glad I was able to use some scrap papers.

Be a good one..

I'm glad I finally got around to do this one. I made this page and the card for October 1st challenge at The Studio. It is to use hand-cutting only, at least 3 patterned papers, and to make a card and an embellishment out of the left over papers. I realized when you don't use a trimmer or a punch and use only the scissors, it could be quicker. I also made a flower out of a strip of paper and made this simple card.

Halloween Fun

Halloween is approaching and I scrapped this photo from a Halloween 11 years ago. Halloween has lots of our fond Fall memories and when I think of Fall, I think of pumpkins (and pumpkin pies...lol) and Halloween. I created this page for Sketchy Thursdays' second chance challenge. I used 10.8 sketch on this.

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

I am 5.

There are so many projects I want to make but so little time. I feel I am always behind. I know it's not that I have to, but I feel pressured some times. Anyway, here is a page I created tonight using a Skethcy Thursdays sketch. It seems that I could do something better to it, but I really wanted to complete this page tonight. She had just turned 5 when these photos were taken.

I have a lot on my mind.

I am participating a challenge at American Crafts. It is to use 2 American Crafts products with a black & white photo. This is my first layout with a black & white photo. I also used a sketch from Pink Sketches. It turned out to be a simple page. I know I will create more pages with b/w photos. Everything, except flowers and a brad, is American Crafts.

Smile

Here is another page I made today using a sketch from Pencil Lines. They have posted several great sketches (some new ones) for this weekend crop. I wish I had more time to work on them.

Happy Halloween

I am posting this layout I just finished. This was created based on a sketch from Pencil Lines.

Bootiful

Pencil Lines is celebrating their 3rd anniversary by having a weekend crop. I just finished this page using sketch #49.

Pocahontas

Since Halloween is approaching, I chose these photos for this page. This was done for the current challenge at Scrapping Out Loud. It is to use raw chipboard. I had never used them this way but I love that!! I also used their sketch of the week. My dd used to love Pocahontas at that age and when I saw this costume, I grabbed it right away. She had a great Halloween.

Joy

I created this page using a sketch from That Scrappy Girl. Julie created it and I am a big fan of her sketches and her work!! I scrapped this photo taken at Disneyland. We took our dd there for the first time and this photo holds lots and lots of memories :)
