Happy Girl

Can't believe 2008 is almost over. We are heading into 2009 in a few hours. I am hearing fireworks outside. Some neighbors must be shooting them. Scrapbooking has been a great part of my everyday life this year. I have participated lots of challenge blogs, tried lots of sketches and new techniques. I had opportunities to share my layouts with other scrappers. There are a number of great talented scrappers out there and just by admiring their layouts and projects, I was motivated and inspired. I have no doubts it will continue for the coming year. I am posting my last page of the year 2008. I used a sketch on Hobby Farm. Happy New Year !!!!!!!!

Winter Bliss

It rarely snows here and when it did a few weeks ago, I was at work. My DH bought a disposable camera and took some photos. I had them developed to 5 x 7 prints (I thought I ordered 4 x 6 but I had marked the order envelop 5 x 7.) I am glad I did. I normally scrap with smaller photos and when I used large prints, the pages look so different and I like that. Based on Page Plans sketch #37.

Snow layouts

Christmas came and went. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I did. The layouts I am posting are of the photos from the snow day.The first one was based on 52 Skethes...52 Weeks sketch #51 and the second one was based on Page Plans sketch #36. My DH took these photos with a disposable camera. I have never cropped photos into squares and made a layout like this before. I liked how it turned out.

Peaceful Night

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve. I'm getting off work at 1:00pm. Yay! It's been cold the last few days but it's supposed to be warm tomorrow and will be raining. The layout I'm posting tonight was created based on Rough Draft #11. It was soooo beutiful that day. By the way, there is a fantastic give-away at Leah's blog, Life As Lou. She has a HUGE package to give away and her book is just gorgeous. Anyone needs to go check it out :)
Merry Christmas !!

Winter Wonderland & You Inspire Me

Can't believe this is the last weekend before Christmas! I am still trying to finish up a few things. I am posting 2 pages tonight. The first one was done for Dreamgirls. We had snow last week. Unfortunately I was at work. But when I got home, I took some photos outside. My DH took some photos with a disposable camera and I will be picking them up soon. Hopefully there are some good day-time photos I can scrap. This challenge was to use the sketch, bling, and Christmas song as a title. I applied stamp ink to the baby blue chipboard for the title. My second one tonight was done for new challenge blog, Butterfly Craft. The background paper I used was very cute and I took an advantage of it.

Caution!

I thought I would never create for this sketch this week.... I couldn't pick the photos. This was done based on 52 Sketches...52 Weeks #50. 2 more to go this year. The sketch calls for 4 photos. I used just 3. The supplies I used, except the buttons, the yellow flower, and the rub-ons 'n chipboards for the title, are the goodies I got from Melissa, DT on UnPubbed. It was sad that there will be no more posts there. I used a transparency for the very first time. I put the photo on top of it, but was I supposed to put the photo under ?? I will need to add the journalling.

Tradition

I was just going to post this layout and get off the computer. But guess what I just found out! I won a Making Memories kit on Jessica's blog. The odd was 1 in 454!! And I won. How cool is that !? How amazing is that !? Anyway, this page was done for The Pretty Committee challenge and I may submit to Butterfly Crafts if I can't create another page soon. Watching Christmas movies, baking and decorating cookies, driving the neighborhood to look at the lights... there are some things we always do. Taking some family photos in front of the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve is one of our tradition now.

Let's Go & Having Fun

I guess I forgot to post a layout last night. 'Let's Go" was scrapped based on Page Plans #35 and 'Having Fun' was done based on Pink Sketch #17. Both turned out pretty simple. Page Plan sketch had a big circle over the big photo block and I thought it was going to be hard. But once I removed the circle, the rest came easier. I made a part of a circle in the corner using some buttons. The second layout is very close to the sketch. I didn't change any. I used the sizzlit swirl die I just bought.

Cousins & All I want for X'mas

Sunday night comes way too quickly. I spent most of the weekend Christmas shopping. I was almost done but I just couldn't find the last couple of gifts. I will be wrapping the gifts sometime this week. Anyway I am posting 2 pages tonight. The first one is titled 'Cousins' and it was done based on Rough Draft sketch #10. It turned out simple. I thought of decorating some more above the photo area but desided to leave it simple. The second one was submitted to 2 challenge blogs; Scrapping the Music and The Pretty Committee. I created this page on Wednesday but waited till today to post. I've been following The Pretty Committee challenges but I sat out every one of them until this one. They have great prompts and DTs layouts look beautiful. It's just not what I normally scrap since my subject is mainly my DD. I also knew the song of the week for today's reveal over on Scrapping the Music. So I went ahead and scrapped this page and waited until after the new challenge posted. They both have 'All I want for Christmas is...' challenge. I just want a family photo.

Isn't She Lovely ?

I created this layout inspired by this week's ad on Ad This. And used supplies I bought on Black Friday, 40% off free shipping purchase :) These photos don't need any explanation :) By the way, it snowed Thursday and the snow was still left Friday morning. Schools around here closed early Thursday and all day Friday. There still is some left on the ground. I haven't seen this much snow for a long time.

Jolly

I was going to post this much earlier. But the tornado siren went off and we had to go into the closet. My daughter brought a bowl of cereal and we talked and listened to the rain and the wind in there. I don't know how long we were in the closet but it's been raining hard. Lightening and thander seem to have stopped. Anyway, this is the layout I did today. I used getting sketchy sketch of the month.

3 Layouts

These photos were all taken last Saturday. We went shopping. The first one was done for Scrapping the Music using 52 Sketches...52 Weeks #49. I bought laces for the first time and used some on this page. The next two were done for The Story Matters and Dreamgirls. I started to participate Julie's 52 Sketches from sketch #4. So I used sketches #1 and #3 to do those 2 pages. I used black magic green cardstock from Coordination. I tore it. I used green side up to mat the photos. I also sanded and put beverage names with the blue stickers. On the last layout, I used the paint to stamp the title. I had never done that before and the first letter 'C' was kind messed up. And I couldn't make that title straight..... oh well.

2 layouts

I scrapped the first LO last night. It was based on Rough Draft #9. These photos were taken the day before her birthday. She was going to Tiny Tots class that the city offered twice a week at that time and they celebrated her b-day there. The photos on the second layout were the continuation of the layout I did the other day (silly & happy). She was showing the eggs that they colored at Tiny Tots class. It was done using Page Plans #34 that came out this morning.

So Sweet

I used Doodlebug flock on this layout. It is the current challenge on Method Playground. I kept it pretty simple. The photos were taken at McDonald. I was working early hours and was picking her up at 4:00pm. After supper, we would walk over there and play for a little while.

Silly & Happy

She was going to City's toddler class twice a week. It was before Easter and the kids made bunny and colored eggs.

Go Fly a Kite

This page was created using 52 Sketches...52 Weeks #48. After I took this photo, I added journaling. The part of the journaling paper that is under the photo block is actually missing. I had used that part on Valentine's Day layout the other day.

Simple Pleasures

I was putting together a package to send and wrote some Christmas cards tonight and had a late start on this layout. This bright color combo is not my usual colors but I thought I would have to use these papers some day and why not make it be today. This is a wonderful thing about Sothern California. It was February and people were in t-shirts and shorts on the beach!!! Boy how I miss that. It was very cold and frosty this morning.... This layout is my take on Pink Sketch #16.

In my life I love you more

This is something I created tonight. This was done for Scrapping the Music. The song of the week is 'In My Life' by Beatles. I wanted to add some more journaling strips and put actual lylics on them but I used up that particular piece of scrap and didn't want to look for something else. May be later. But for now this is it!

Post Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving came and went. Hope everybody had a wonderful thanksgiving. I did.
I had to work on Friday but was able to take advantage of Black Friday sales on on-line shopping. And I got some shopping done yesterday. So today I got back to scrapbooking and created 3 pages. 2nd LO was done based on Page Plans #33 and the last one was done based on Rough Draft #8. Speaking of Rough Draft, I was chosen as a grand prize winner for November. Yay!! I just love working with sketches.

Long Day?

Happy Tuesday! One more day and we have Thanksgiving. I will have to work Friday though... Here is the page I made tonight. I used 52 Sketches...52 Weeks #47 to create this one. I had to add extra mat because the photo is small.

2 layouts

I took another day off this month. It will be a short week this week and I am glad about that. I will be taking 3 more vacation days early part of December. This should give me extra time to scrap but not as much as I would like to. I know I will have other things to take care of. Anyway I completed 2 pages today. The first one was inspired by '5 O'clock World", the song of the week at Scrapping the Music. That's the theme song for Drew Carey show. I had totally forgotten about that show. I bought a pack of black magic cardstocks. They are black on front and different colors on back. I sanded this one to reveal some blue color. As I was sanding, my hands got sooo black and I had to go wash them. I want to try tearing next time. The second one was done based on Page Maps sketch. This was another 'thankful' challenge. I guess it's that time of the year but I feel I made too many 'thankful' pages this month. I used velvet flock on this one. It was included in the prize I received last month from IMM-Scrap Muse. Pretty neat!!

2 snow pages

2 layouts done with the snow photos. The first one was done based on Page Plans #32 and the second one was done based on Pink Sketch #15.

Happy

This layout was done based on Rough Draft #7. I just wanted to use up those 2 pieces of papers under the photo. But I couldn't find a background paper that would go with them... Anyway this is the end result.

Stirfry

This is my first entry to ScrapStars. The current challenge is to create a page about nicknames. I started this page a lot differently. But this is what I ended up with. I used all scraps to decorate as usual.

Just A Girl

I like how the coloring turned out on this one. I used lots of post-it notes to mask the little squares as I colored with ink pads. Scrapping the Music's song of the week is 'Just A Girl'. I created this page inspired by the ad #3 on Ad This. The photo frame is from Clip Art.

You, Daisy

I had gone to bed about an hour and half ago but couldn't sleep. So I got out of bed and remembered I hadn't posted what I finished tonight (or it's already yesterday). The first one is Melissa's lift on UnPubbed. The photo sizes were just perfect to scraplift her pretty LO. There she was, not cooperating for me to take good photos... The second LO was for Method Playground. The new challenge is paper poking. I normally poke holes when I stitch..both real and fake... This time I poked the background design on the cardstock. I poked then decided to use the reverse side of the cardstock as front side. I did the horrible paint job though.... I got lazy and didn't use a brush. I just didn't want to get up and go wash the brush afterwards. Anyway, I like this poked design. I may use it to stitch next time.

Serious Scrapping

I took a day off today. I have a few vacation days left to take before the year-end and since I wouldn't be able to take holiday weeks, I decided to take today off. I don't know if you would call this mojo, but I was rolling today. Finished 5 layouts!!! Wow! Of course when I look at each one of them, I find something I wish I did differently. Anyways, from top to bottom, Rough Draft #6, Page Plans #31, 52 Sketches...52 Weeks #46, Dreamgirls, and Getting Sketchy. The first 3 are based on sketches. I used masks on the 4th layout. I was able to use this Heidi Swapp mask for the first time. I also used a little circle and a leaf I cut outAnd I used rub-on tape on the last one. It was included in the prize package I just received today from Paper Popsicles (Unpubbed famer prize).

Special & Thankful

We attended a funeral yesterday. It was 5-hour drive away and we left home 6:30 in the morning and didn't get home until after 10:00 at night. I am not going to write about it here but one thing I wanted to mention is that things like this always make me appreciate everything. I am thankful for the simple fact that I am here typing this post. Anyway I was so tired this morning and couldn't start anything until mid afternoon. These 2 pages are of the photos from a drive we took along Palos Verdes coast. "Special" was done for Use Your Stash button challenge and "Thankful" was done based on Rough Draft #6 and also done for The Story Matters. I used buttons on this one, too.

Go On and Shine, 1 big mess

Finished 2 layouts. The first one is for Scrapping the Music. This week's song is 'video'. The second one is for The Haute Spot (SIStv). Their first challenge is to use an equation. These are both quick, simple layouts. The papers on the first page of course came from my scrap pile. The circle is not really circle. The part that is under the photos is missing. The same for the red paper. It's actually 'L' shape. As far as the papers are concerned, all I added to the second page was 2 small pink squares. I spread the buttons randomly because this page is about a mess.
