Dreamin' and Sweet Thing

I made these 2 pages for Tara's challenges. She hosts creative crafts and stickers that offers lots of tips, tutorials and challenges. She also have her own blog and offers lots of challenges there. My first layout here Dreamin' was for challenge 14. It is to use a shaped paper. I don't have the popular shapes but had this one. The background paper used is very old and I am glad I finally used it. I had no idea how to use this paper. So I adhered 2 photos first then started adding different things. No big plan and this is the result. The second layout, 'Sweet Thing' was for challenge 15 and could be for 13. Challenge 15 is to create a page using song title from her list as title of the page. Challenge 13 was to add some cut-outs from a paper.

Ball Heaven

Tonight, I was going to create a page with lots of circles and I chose this photo. I cut out all the circles from a 8x8 paper then added flowers and buttons. For the photo mat, I used Sassafras journaling spot. As always, it turned out to be a simple page.

Park Photos

Can't believe this is already the last week of January. Time sure flies...way too fast. Here are 2 layouts done based on Pink Sketches #18 A & B. I could post the first one last night but totally forgot. I was blog-hopping too much looking at fun CHA photos posted by the SB companies. Yesterday and today, as soon as I got home, I turned my computer on!! Well, I want to scrap a few more this week. Let me pick out a photo or two to scrap tomorrow before I go to bed. Good night......

Cute Things I Do

I just finished this one. Took me long enough. I really wanted to finish up this Sassafras paper pack. After I cut out the big circle, all I have left is some scraps. :) I created this layout based on Ally's So Sketchy sketch. Also she is having a blog candy on her blog and if you made a page with Random Chaos challenge, you could earn an extra ballot. I did the challenge 42; to include a bird. I used a mirror bird.

Simple Layouts

It's Saturday. Afternoon already. The first 2 I'm posting are the layouts I worked on Thursday and finished last night. The first one was for the challenge on Scrappy Times. It is to create a page about your favorite things. I had to ask my dd. The most of the thinks on this list I knew already but I didn't know her favorite number and season. So it was a good thing I did this page. I made this page very simple. Used a transparency for the frame. No distressing of any kind. The second one was made for ScrapStars' current challenge. They provided a sketch to use. So this one came along fairly easily. And last night I found this challenge blog called BASB. It happened that the current challenge is to create a page with only ONE patterned paper. I thought what a great timing, I just made one, thinking about "my favorites". But I realized I used cardstock to mat the photo. So I made another layout this morning. I picked this photo last night but couldn't choose a paper. It took me a while. I decided on this simple paper and went ahead and put the photo in the center and added a ribbon around it. I wished I had thought through before I did it.... because I had no idea what I wanted to do with it. Anyway after strugling some more, I finished it. I used non-paper items to decorate. I like all 3 simple layouts here.

Due to the wreck this morning, the interstate was closed all day. Fortunately I just missed the morning traffic but not the afternoon one. It took me 2 hours to get home...and I just didn't feel like doing anything when I finally got home. Hopefully I will be able to scrap tomorrow. For tonight, I will blog hop some more and go to bed :)

5 Layouts

Why your days off go so fast ? I wish I had another day to stay home. I was off today and spent the most of it scrapping. I also went to the craft store and bought American Crafts' D-ring album. I hear great things about them and I had never used a ring album. Since they were having 50% off sale, I thought this would be a good opportunity. I didn't forget to grab a refill pack :) Actually the reason I went out was to go to the scrapbooking store. I wanted to get a mist. That craft store doesn't carry and I don't own any either. It is the current challenge on Method Playground. But guess what!? That scrapbooking store have gone out of business!! I guess I will sit out this one. Anyway I am posting the pages I have created the last few days. The first 2 layouts were done for Scrapping the Music. This week's song is 'Colors'. This song is one of the greatest songs to get inspo. You could create a page for each sentence in the song. The first one is 'yellow'. I also used a sketch from Page Maps. This sketch was also a puzzle sketch on CCAS. The next page is the color purple. This design was inspired by the last week's Ad This ad. The page titled Sweet Memories was done based on Page Maps sketch for their sweet challenge. Also I did it for CMIH. This month' challenge is to use a callendar something. It happened to be included in a prize package from Rough Draft last month. The next one titled 'Just For You' was done based on 52 Sketches...52 Weeks sketch #3. And the last one was done for Dreamgirls current challenge. It is to use old pp, paper tearing, and the title starting with 'I'm not'.

Chickens

Here is my take on this week's Page Plan sketch. It doesn't look anything like that sketch.... Except the background Paper, all the pieces of papers on this page is scraps. The stitching is fake. I used rub-on tape runner. Now I'm off to create some more...

One Day at a Time

I almost forgot to post this layout. I was invited to guest desig over at Butterfly Crafts. This was done for the current challenge, 2009 goals. I first thought of creating a page about my diet. I actually took and printed a couple of photos of the scale and a box of cake mix with a jar of icing, thinking a big slice of cake would be a reward. Then I thought of it some more. This year, I want to learn something new, try new techniques on my pages, create more layouts, take better care of myself, get back on walking.... these are some of my goals/wishes. So the phrase 'one day at a time' came to my mind. Whatever the goal is, I want to take one day at a time. And I want my dd to do the same. I ended up with choosing these photos of her working on her Math. It's the subject she has hard time with and I was helping her with it that day. Or maybe I was afraid I don't have strong will to stay on diet..... This page turned out to be simple, not much embellies...

Karen has given me this award!! This is my very first one!! She runs Butterfly Crafts and has her own great blog as well. If you haven't, go check out Butterfly Crafts. There will be a new fun challenge tomorrow. I will be following this one closely :) Now I will be giving this pretty award to other bloggers but I am sooooo tired and it will have to wait till the weekend. I completed a layout today. I will be posting it later this week as well. Got to go to bed!

Seize the Day

I created this page based on 52 Sketches...52 Weeks #2. I just love this sketch. I was able to use the scraps on this one. The green cardstock, in actual color, is not as green as it appears. After I picked out patterned papers and the photo, I still couldn't come up with the title. When I saw Jann's Stash Diet (see the forums) for this week, I was able to pick the title immediately. This week's challenge is to get inspo from dailies and to use felt. I got the title from Jann's 1/13 daily.

Pictures of Us

The inspiration for this layout came from the song 'Pictures of You' by The Last Goodnight, the song of the week on Scrapping the Music. It makes us realize that the pictures represent our histories. I did this one like hanging the photos on the wall. The strips of papers were found in the scrap box. I need to get some more white cardstocks though. I got a few the other day to do Dreamgirls challenge (I used black one for it) and have used them all. I love having the white background.

Check it out!!

Just wanted to mention about Allison Cope's blog, Your Memories. You will see something good :) She is a very talented scrapper herself and has a fantastic sketch blog called So Sketchy! There she offers great sketches for different sizes and cards as well as DTs' beautiful examples. I have been following this one since the beginning and continue to visit for great inspirations.

Fun

2 pager today. When I first saw this sketch, I thought of creating the usual 12x12. But then I thought, well this was created for a 2-page layout. So I decided to go for it. Soon after I started I kind regretted. I am just not good at it. (Not that I am any good at single pages.) I can't balance the both sides. Maybe if I had the same kind of photos through out, it might look better. For this one, I picked the brown cardstocks first, for these were the only 2 that I had of the same color. Then I picked a couple of papers from the scrap box. For the tilte, I just picked this word because that was the only word I could come up with that would go with this page out of the left over letter papers. Page Plans #39

Beautiful

I did this page for Use Your Stash brads challenge. I drew flourish and added brads and flowers. I have seen someone did this before and I gave it a try. I should have practiced first or I should have made a template.... oh well...

Megan had a little lamb.

Happy Friday!! I did this layout for Jann's Stash Diet on SIS tv forum. This was to use nursery rhymes and paint. I had this paper for a long time and am glad I finally used it. It was perfect for this theme. Also I tried bubble wrap painting for the first time. I need a lot more practice though...

Budding Artist

My dd asked Santa for a paint set. I scrapped a photo of her first piece. She got this done the next day and it didn't take her that long to finish it. She has painted 3 more since than. It is something I can't come up with and it really amazes me how she creates them. She can't really explain it to me though. This pad is 24' x 18'... it's big. I think she would make a better scrapper than me. But so far she has no interest. I used some scraps to decorate this page. Also I used crayon resist technique, the current challenge on Method Playground, to create the frame. I drew lines with a blueish color crayon and painted with water down acrylic paint over the lines to create painted wood frame feel.

Silly Musician

Here is my latest layout. I sanded the photo edges and applied gold ink on the title chipboards. Done based on 52 Weeks...52 Sketches #1. They launched a brand new site this year. So nice!

2 Layouts

Happy Monday! My first one tonight was actually done last night. It was based on 52 Sketches...52 Weeks sketch #52 and inspired by Jewel's song, 'hands'. This is the song of the week on Scrapping the Music. And the second layout was done for Dreamgirls challenge. It is to use the word 'new' and make it black/white layout. And handmade embellishment is the only additional color. I think I used one of the corner stamps for the first time.

Sand

Here is the page I just finished based on Page Plans sketch #38. I am still not sure about my paper choice but I thought I would have to use them sooner or later. There we were playing on the beach in February! Oh how I miss that !

Saturday, January 3, 2009

2 Layouts

I created 2 pages today. The first one was based on a sketch from Scrappy Times. And the second one was done for Butterfly Crafts' challenge. It was to create a page about favorite 2008 momories. I've had this camera I am using for a while but never uploaded the program because I was able to use the program I already had from my old camera. I finally uploaded the new program and it upgraded what I had. AND I dicovered this feature. I inserted the text on the photos!!

Happy New Year! and my first LO

Happy New Year! I still hear fireworks outside... must be a left-over from last night. We had our New Year dinner (black eye peas) at my in-laws and I am posting my first LO of the year. Is this a good start or what !? When it snowed last month, the snow remained for a couple of days. The second day, it turned into ice. My DD gathered some ice and made this tiny snowman. She was so proud of it. As soon as I got home from work, she took me to the back and showed it to me. Her school was closed that day. She thought that baby snowman was calling out "mama". Any way this LO was done based on 52 Sketches...52 Weeks sketch #52. Love this sketch! I learned this ribbon flower on the Pretty Committee.
